From 18-26 February, the world will be celebrating Real Bread Week, the international celebration of local, independent bakeries and home baking. Launched by the Real Bread Campaign in 2009, this annual and international celebration aims to encourage bakeries and bakers to host classes, feasts, and other events to celebrate the wonderful world of bread.

Here at the Eat & Drink Festival, we’ve got a fantastic array of independent brands, celebrity talks, demonstrations, and more, all celebrating the world of food and drink, including bread.

Brick Lane Bagel Co at stand MS10 are inspired by the famous bakeries of London, and the father-and-son-founded brand honours the delicious world of bagels. Riverford Organic Farmers at stand F214 are at the forefront of organic groceries, and have a selection of tasty bread to try, including rye, sourdough, wholegrain, and even a soda bread kit that you can DIY yourself at home.

Want to celebrate Real Bread Week by having a go for yourself, why not try Lisa Faulkner and John Torode’s soda bread recipe, which is both simple and delicious, the perfect way to mark the celebration. Want to try a vegan bread recipe? Take a look at Lisa Marley’s Walnut and Date Bread recipe, a delicious and vegan alternative.

All three chefs will be heading to the Eat & Drink Stage where they will be offering their tips and tricks, as well as live demonstrations to inspire you with some new recipes.
